Event 25 Recap

$200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

It was a long wait, but Borgata regular Tom Colamaria (Brooklyn, NY) finally got his big score.  He beat Joseph McKeehen (North Wales, PA) heads up and earned $46,650, the largest payday of his career.

"It was a long day, a long life," said Colamaria while holding the Borgata Poker Open trophy after winning. "It's been ten years and to finally get a big score makes it worth it," added the soon to be 31-year-old.

Colamaria's journey was epitomized at the final table when four-handed play lasted more than three hours.  "Definitely haven't seen it ever last that long," said McKeehen, who earned $27,843 as runner-up. "Especially since the blinds were so big. We just couldn't get hands to flip with and when we did, he (Colamaria) got it and won the tournament."

The hand McKeehan referenced came when Colamaria's pocket 4s held against 4th place finisher Eddie Bou. That came before he knocked out Brian Coen in third place and then won it with 6 6♣ against McKeehen.

The day began with 1,104 entries which created a total buy-in of $220,800.  The top 110 made the money including WSOP bracelet holder Allyn Shulman (50th).  Other women who cashed included Borgata regulars Nancy Martin (46th), Nancy Martin (45th) and Patty Barasanti-Chou (41st).

But in the end it's Colamaria who won the tournament while wearing his trademark Burger King crown and he received the royal treatment from those who have watched him grind for so many years.
