Event 9 Recap

$350 + $50 Big Stack Pot Limit Omaha High (Re-Entry)

Charlie Morgenstern (Chesterfield, NJ) dominated the final table of the Pot Limit Omaha event, only surrendering the chip lead briefly near the end.  He claimed $15,381 and his first Borgata Poker Open trophy for the win.

Second place went to professional poker player Chun Chen, (Seattle, WA) good for $8,459.  Chen wrestled the chip lead from Morgenstern just before the dinner break when he flopped the nut flush.

After dinner, Morgenstern flopped a full house to double up through third-place finisher Bryce Fox (Pittsburgh, PA).  Fox was left with only 100k -- less than two big blinds -- but doubled up three times and climbed back to 1 million chips.   After getting Morgenstern all in with the worst of it, Morgenstern caught runner-runner to make two pair and double up -- again knocking Fox down to about 100k.  Fox busted out soon after, earning $4,870 for third place.

Pot Limit Omaha always brings out interesting players and this final table did not disappoint.  It featured one Canadian, Adrian Baran, from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and one Brit, Jeffrey Duvall, from London, England.  Baran finished 4th for $4,101.  Duvall, who already has two Borgata Open trophies to his credit, finished 6th for $2,563.

Also at this final table was accomplished Borgata regular Yuebin Guo (Brooklyn, NY).  Guo, who has three Borgata Open titles, finished 5th for $3,076.  Well known poker pro Allen 'Chainsaw' Kessler (Las Vegas, NV) rounded out this final table, finishing 8th for $1,538.

Charlie Morgenstern played good Samaritan on his drive to Borgata, stopping to help a stranded motorist.  He then told his wife he was going to win and to "look for his picture with four cards and a trophy".  His son Jackson is anxious for him to get home, but we'll see him back for the main event next week.
