WPT BPO: Eskandar Leads Heading to Day 4

$3300 + $200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

Patrick Eskandar

Patrick Eskandar (Gulfport, MS) is the chip leader heading into Day 4 with 2.977 million and he glad to be there with just one entry.

"Only one bullet," says Eskandar, who was crippled on just the second hand of Day 1A. "I was ready to re-entry, but didn't have to," he explained.  Eskandar's pocket aces were cracked by a set of queens, which knocked him down to 6k.

After a couple of double-ups he was off and running.  Eskandar bagged 93k on Day 1 and never looked back.  "It was a pretty good day," said Eskandar about Day 3 where he started with ~300k. "It'll be interesting to see how it goes tomorrow (Thursday).

Eskandar leads the returning 27 players and is just ahead of Matt Burnitz (Bear, DE) and Steve Brecher (Reno, NV), who are both at ~2.5 million and the only three players with more than 2 million chips.

Play resumes noon Thursday with the average stack at 1.3 million (55 BB) and blinds at 12k/24k/3k ante.  The action will play down to the final six who will appear on Friday's WPT televised final table where they'll compete for the $818,847 top prize.
