Event 1: Just Missing the $$$

$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Voccia Vanquished

As we approach the money bubble the painful bustouts keep happening.  Daniel Voccia (Westhampton Beach, NY) finishes 9 spots from the money when his flopped flush is run down by Dan Wach (Boonton, NJ) and his AK.

Wach has 6 7 and not only has a flush, but a straight flush draw after the flop of 2 3 4 , but when Wach's holding the A and when the J hits the river Voccia is on the rail.

"It's sad, but that's poker," says Voccia, who had 300k when the hand started. "I could have sat back and not played a hand, but I'm not here for $1,900 (min cash), I'm playing for the big money."

Voccia is at Borgata for all the series and had his biggest score when he won the 2011 December Deep Stack tournament for $102,000.  He's a poker pro, who is a former investment banker and works has a construction business.

"They did an awesome job," says Voccia after grinding for two days.  "From the dealers to the staff, everyone. This was the best run of any tournament on the East Coast and I've been to a lot of them."

While Voccia is disappointed in missing the money, he's already looking forward to playing in the $3 Million Guaranteed WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship event, adding "you have to be able to handle the ups and downs."

Voccia also highlights that three-time WSOP bracelet winner and Matt Matros is one of his favorite players, mainly because Matros' dad Bill was his math teacher while growing up.  Voccia also says that his family is a direct descendent of John Hancock, signer of the Declaration of Independence.
