14th Place - $968

Sarah Wasch (Philadelphia, PA)

Event 4: Miami Sets Up

$400 + $50 Seven Card Stud

Limits 4k/8k.

Miami John Cernuto and Rogerio Sousa tangle in a pot.  At the river Rogerio bets and John calls.  Rogerio shows Kings-up, but John had a set of 6s to take the pot.

John chipped up to ~95k while Rogerio dropped to ~97k.

They're the two biggest stacks remaining.

16 players are left.  Average is 36k.

Event 1: Chip Leader Takes a Small Hit

Event 1 - $500 + $60 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em

Players just came back from break not too long ago, and our chip leader in event 1 is Hobart Adkins (Ona, WV) with approx. 4.3 mill.  Shortly after the break I caught the aftermath of a hand and this is how the cards looked when they were tabled:

Ozzie Niazi (Dover, NJ) 99♣
Ed Lam (NY, NY) A♣10♣
Hobart Adkins (Ona, WV) AQ♠

It was a 3-way all-in, and the board ran out 9K6♣JA♠.  Niazi triples up to about 1.7 million.  Adkins takes a small hit, and Ed Lam finishes in 95th place.

Event 3: Bounty Bubble Breaks

$350 + $50 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

We've hit the money for the second time in the Event Center as the final 63 players are all in the money.  The remaining players earn $708 as they chase the top prize of $49,958.

Justin Schwartz (Lake Grove, NY) is still the chip leader with ~700k and 10 knockouts for a cool $1,000 in his pocket.

Recognizable faces making the money include:

Mike "Little Man" Sica
Lana O'Brien
Manny "Cuba" Vega
Jose Montes
Craig Feldherr
Vinny Pahuja
"Lucky" Lee Kirsch
Tony Antonious
Leonardo Palermo

Event 2: Stuck at 14

$350 + $50 HORSE

The final 14 have returned from a break to limits of 10k/20k.

Average stack is 175k.

Ed McGahan is chip leader with 450k.

Gerard Fabiano is second with 300k.

Antonio Bueti is third with 230k.

Event 2: 16th - Viganola; 15th - Pacheco

$350 + $50 HORSE

Tony Viganola (Little Ferry, NJ)
16th Place - $830

David Pacheco (Fall River, MA)
15th Place - $968

Event 3: Bubble Watch

$350 + $50 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

Two Pairs Justin Time

The biggest hand of the tournament happens as we're six spots from the money and Justin Schwartz (Lake Grove, NY) is now the clear chip leader with 675k.

On a board of K♣ 5 4♣:

Player X bets 38k
Schwartz raises to 84k
Player X moves all in for 135k more
Schwartz tank calls

Player X: A 5 (ace high)
Schwartz: J♣ 10♣ (flush draw)

Turn: J(Schwartz, pair of jacks)

River: 10(Schwartz, two pairs)

Player X shakes his head in disbelief as he's on the rail in 69th place and watches the half a million chip pot slide across the table.

The top 63 cash in this event as we'll soon be playing hand-for-hand.

Event 4: Grinding Along

$400 + $50 Seven Card Stud

Down to 17 active Stud players (well, some are more 'active' than others).

Rogerio Sousa

Rogerio Sousa (Durham, NC) is up to 75k and right on the heels of chip leader Marty Muncus, who has 76k.

Miami John Cernuto is still in good shape with ~50k.

Average stack is 34k.

Event 2: Sweet Sixteen

$350 + $50 HORSE

The final 16 players drew for seats and moved to the final two tables.

Here's the lineup.

Event 1: Chan Flushes Reynolds

$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Reynolds (left) Ships Double-up to Chan (Standing)

It's big pot with a lot of action, but the bottom line is Stephen Reynolds (Little Egg Harbor, NJ) flops a set of aces, but is run down by the A♠ 9♠ of Ben Chan (New York, NY) when the turn and river are both spades to complete the flush.

It's more than million chip pot as Chan's all in is 404k, taking his stack 1.3 million.  Reynolds is cut down to 500k.

104 players remain with an average stack of 890k (30 BB) as blinds are 15k/30k/400 ante.

Event 2: 17th Place - Reslock

$350 + $50 HORSE

Chris Reslock (Atlantic City, NJ) was the next HORSE to head for the barn.

Chris Reslock

He finished 17th and will add $830 to his lifetime tournament earnings of over $1.7 million.

Event 1: Three Way All In

$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Daniel Baczewski (Aliquippa, PA) sends Jason Acosta (Little Ferry, NJ) to the rail in 133rd place.

It's a three-way all in with Baczewski holding AK vs Acosta's K 4 and the third player's JJ.

Baczewski gets an ace in the window and a king on the river to scoop the pot with two pairs.  He doubles his 376k pot and adds 171k from Acosta.

Event 2: 18th Place - Bower

$350 + $50 HORSE

Marcus Bower (Galloway, NJ) was the first to go.  He earned $830 for 18th place.

The final 17 finished up the level and are taking a break while the 500 chips are colored up.

Edward McGahan is once again the chip leader with ~380k.

Event 1: Oshima Gets Piece of Michalek

$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Michalek (right) in the Tank as Oshima (left) Waits

Norman Michalek (Westfield, NJ) has been in the 4 million chip range since dinner break, but just lost 500k in a pot to Kazuhito Oshima (Temecula, CA).

With the board showing 4♠ J♣ 4 8 and one million chips in the pot, Michalek leads from the big blind for 265k.  Oshima moves all in for 400k more and Michalek tanks and eventually folds.

Oshima takes his stack to 1.4 million, while Michalek drops to a little more than 3 million.

140 players remain with an average stack 661k (28 BB) as blinds are 12k/24k/3k ante.

Event 2: Bubble-HORSE

$350 + $50 HORSE

Playing Stud:

Adel Shakerian tangled with Michael Wang (Livingston, NJ).  Adel started with a pair of Aces while Michael had a pair of Jacks.

Michael made trips on 5th street and they got all their chips in the middle.  Michael had Adel barely covered and when Adel was unable to improve his hand, he was busted.

Adel Shakerian (Falls Church, VA) finished in 19th place, good for squa-doosh.

He's today's Bubble-Boy, or rather Bubble-Horse.

The final 18 are all in the money.

Russ chipped up to ~125k.

Another player was dispatched and just 22 remain.  Average is 111k.

24 players remain in the tournament.  Average is 102k.

Event 1: One More Level, Then Dinner

$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Tournament officials put ~20 minutes back on the clock, half the time lost during hand-for-hand play.

During the bubble watch, blinds went up to 10k/20k/3k ante, so the remaining 200 players will finish the level and go on dinner break at 8:10 pm.

Now that we've reached the money, buckle up, because the bustouts will be fast and furious.

Event 2: Another New Chip Leader

$350 + $50 HORSE

Yet another new chip leader has emerged.

Gerard Fabiano

Gerard Fabiano (Belleville, NJ) is up to 230k.

Matthew Stevens (Brecksville, OH) may be in second.  He's up to 196k.

28 remain at 4 tables.  Average is 87k.  Ten more must go to reach the money.

Event 1: Blind v Blind, Bubble Breaks

$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Pena, Thumbs Up & In the Money

Sean Pena (Secaucus, NJ) is in the SB when he puts the BB, Charles Walton (Philadelphia, PA) all in for his last 15k after posting his 20k big blind.

Pena: K 4
Walton 10 4

Flop: K Q J (Pena pair of kings, Walton OE straight draw)

Turn: K (Pena trip kings)

River: J (Pena full house)

Walton is the unfortunate bubble boy and just misses getting paid.

After 40 minutes of hand-for-hand play, the bubble breaks and the remaining 200 players are in the money. The all earn at least $1,866 and are gunning for the top prize of $309,196.

Event 2: HORSE-Tweets

$350 + $50 HORSE

The HORSE crowd are not a very Tweety bunch, but Rob Lederer (Syosset, NY) has been doing a great job keeping his Twitter-followers up to date.

These are his last few Tweets:

56K at break.

97K headed to break. Dinner break in an hour. Good level.

33 players left. 18 cash.

Just lost 140K pot in Hold'em. Held the nuts on the the turn. Guy filled up on the river. That might have done me in. 31K left.

Keep those Tweets coming!

Event 2: New Chip Leader

$350 + $50 HORSE

Level 17:  Limits 4k/8k

33 Players remain.  Average stack is 74k.

Only 18 get paid, so there's still a long way to go.

Edward McGahan

A new chip leader has emerged.  Edward McGahan (Ridgewood, NJ) is approaching 200k.

Event 1: One from the Money

$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Hand-for-hand play began four spots from the money and with the elimination of Nick Frangos (Mays Landing, NJ) we're now one place from breaking the bubble.

Frangos is all in for his last 55k with AK and has outs against Eli Garney (Larksville, PA) and one other play in a three-way pot. But Garney hits a boat on the river after flopping a set with pocket queens.

The head count stands at 201, with the top 200 cashing for a minimum of $1,866.

Event 4: Tough Table

$400 + $50 Seven Card Stud

Level 8:   Limits 400/800

By far the toughest table in today's Stud tournament is table six.

Miami John Cernuto, Allen Kessler & Bill Munley

All seated at the same end of that table are:

Miami John Cernuto - 3 WSOP Bracelets, one from Stud H/L
Allen Kessler - $2.5 million lifetime, playing all games

4 Studs have been culled.  44 remain.  Average stack is 13k.

Event 1: Just Missing the $$$

$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Voccia Vanquished

As we approach the money bubble the painful bustouts keep happening.  Daniel Voccia (Westhampton Beach, NY) finishes 9 spots from the money when his flopped flush is run down by Dan Wach (Boonton, NJ) and his AK.

Wach has 6 7 and not only has a flush, but a straight flush draw after the flop of 2 3 4 , but when Wach's holding the A and when the J hits the river Voccia is on the rail.

"It's sad, but that's poker," says Voccia, who had 300k when the hand started. "I could have sat back and not played a hand, but I'm not here for $1,900 (min cash), I'm playing for the big money."

Voccia is at Borgata for all the series and had his biggest score when he won the 2011 December Deep Stack tournament for $102,000.  He's a poker pro, who is a former investment banker and works has a construction business.

"They did an awesome job," says Voccia after grinding for two days.  "From the dealers to the staff, everyone. This was the best run of any tournament on the East Coast and I've been to a lot of them."

While Voccia is disappointed in missing the money, he's already looking forward to playing in the $3 Million Guaranteed WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship event, adding "you have to be able to handle the ups and downs."

Voccia also highlights that three-time WSOP bracelet winner and Matt Matros is one of his favorite players, mainly because Matros' dad Bill was his math teacher while growing up.  Voccia also says that his family is a direct descendent of John Hancock, signer of the Declaration of Independence.

Somehow I missed Sarah Wasch (Philadelphia, PA) on my previous pass.  She's still in the race and has just moved to table six with Nancy Smethurst.

Sarah Wasch

That's four Ladies remaining out of the 53 players still in action, increasing their share to 7.5% females.

Play has just resumed after a break with level 15, limits 2,500/5,000.

Average stack is ~46k.

Maksim Serebrinskiy is still in the lead.  He's up to 152k.

Event 1: Not a Twit

$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

We just found our new favorite twitter account in Norman Michalek (Westfield, NJ) who is updating us on one of the biggest stacks in the room.

Michalek is close to the two million chip mark and been running well all day.

His latest tweets:

Norman Michalek ‏@norm_michalek
Not losing pots. At 1.91m and not slowing down.....

....Flirting with the 2 milli mark on break.

While we're still a few tables away from the money, players have done the math and with 93 million chips in play realize that an average stack to start the final table is 9 million chips.  Still a long way to go before we award the $309,196 first prize.

Play resumes with blinds at 6k/12k/2k ante.

Event 2: New Chip Leader

$350 + $50 HORSE

The lead HORSE has changed.  Now Maksim Serebrinskiy (Brooklyn, NY) has pulled ahead.  He's up to ~140k.

Maksim Serebrinskiy

He's sharing the felt on table two with Russ Salzer (Westpark, FL), John Racener (Port Richey, FL) and Al 'the Persian Diversian' Navid (Centreville, VA).

Antonio Bueti is still doing well in second with 115k.  He's sharing table one with Matthew Stevens (Brecksville, OH) who has about 90k, and Sharad Mehta (Cherry Hill, NJ).

Event 2: Chop That Pot

$350 + $50 HORSE

Level 15:  Limits 2k/4k

Playing Stud Hi/Low:

Three players get to the river.

Nancy Smethurst (Charlotte, NC) was showing 7 6 5 5 and said "Full House" as she rolled over 2 2 2 in the hole for deuces-full.

Chris Reslock (Atlantic City, NJ) made an 8743A to take the low.

They chopped up the third player's chips.

Event 1: Closing in on 200

$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Table 28 just broke, so there are now 270 players remaining, 70 from the money.  Hobart Adkins (Ona, WV) is one of approximately 10 players who have more than one million chips.

Level 20 (5k/10k/1k ante) is winding down and when the players take their next break (4:45 pm) we'll get a handle on who the big stacks are.

The average stack is 343k (34 BB).

Event 2: Three Fillies Still in the Race

$350 + $50 HORSE

There are still three ladies scattered among the eight HORSE tables still active, making them about 5% of the field.

Gloria LoRusso, Nancy Smethurst, & Helen Ellis

With 60 players remaining, the average stack is about 40k.  These Fillies are doing fairly well:

Nancy Smethurst - 87k
Gloria LoRusso - 45k
Helen Ellis - 31k

They're currently in level 13 with limits of 1,500/3,000 with about 5 minutes left.

Event 3: Falling Fast

$350 + $50 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

 Karivis Cruising Along

The speed of this tournament has tables breaking left and right and there are now less than 30 tables remaining. While there are no monster stacks, we did find one of the big stacks in Ted Karivis, who simply says he's from Greece.

Karivis is up to 125k (208 BB) as Level 8 (300/600/75 ante) is winding down.

Event 4: STUD Schwartz

$400 + $50 Seven Card Stud

Ylon Schwartz (Austin, TX) won his first WSOP bracelet this summer at the WSOP in the $1,500 HORSE event, good for $267,081.

Ylon Schwartz

He's still probably better known as one of the premier November Niners when he made the final table of the 2009 WSOP Main Event, finishing 4th for over $3.7 million.

He was in event 1, day 1B, very late yesterday, so missed out on the HORSE event.  He busted out of event 1 shortly before the end of play and is back today making his mark in this STUD event.

He and the reset of the STUDs have finished three levels and are taking a color-up break.

Event 3: Kerstetter Kaput

$350 + $50 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

Jamie Kerstetter (Monroe Twp., NJ) busts set over set.  She flops a set of 4s, but her opponent hits a set of jacks on the turn.

"It's been happening to me all week," Kerstetter says while taking the beat in stride.

"They never believe me," says the older player.

"Maybe she called because she had a set of 4s," one person quips.

Event 2: Big Stacks

$350 + $50 HORSE

They've completed level 12 and are taking a break.

Nine tables are still active (8-handed) leaving about 70 players still in the hunt for the money.

Antonio Bueti

Antonio Bueti (Mt. Kisco, NY) was the chip leader at the start of play today.  He's grown his stack up to about 100k and still leads the field.

Some other chip counts:

Matthew Stevens - 72k
Barry Levy - 60k
John Racener - 50k

Jake 'the Snake' Deutsch (Staten Island, NY) has busted out.

Event 1: Hinds Up, Payne Down

$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Latest Updates from Twitter includes John Allan Hinds (Winterville, NC) increasing his stack while Antonio Payne (Hazlet, NJ) is on the rail:

John Allan Hinds ‏@JABistro

Level 3:  Limits 100/200

Several familiar faces in today's STUD event:

Miami John Cernuto
Allen Kessler
Rathe Miller
Jeffrey McAllister
Scott Niebling
Bill Munley
Ylon Schwartz

Cyndy Violette, who has a WSOP bracelet won playing Stud H/L, stopped by to chat with some players, but is apparently not playing this event.

Event 3: 600+ / Re-entry Closed

$350 + $50 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

More than 600 players are in the field for the bounty tournament and now that Level 6 (200/400/50 ante) is done re-entry is closed.

"Little Man" Mike Sica (North Brunswick, NJ) is always entertaining the masses and spends his down time breaking down a hand. His AK rivers a full house kings full of jacks, but is coolered when Sica's opponent tables quad jacks.

"That's the only hand that beats me, I gotta see it to believe it," he laughs, while running back to his table.

This is an extended break as the remaining players from the Poker Room are being moved to the Event Center.  Play resumes with Level 7 (250/500/50 ante).

Players are on a 15 minute break as the field is now at 390 players (190 from the money).

The average stack is 238k (30 BB) as blinds are moving up to 4k/8k/1k ante.

The 500 chips are being removed from play and the table captains are collecting all the purple chips. But as one player noted, he wanted to be the gold chip (25k) leader later today.

Event 1: Change at the Top

$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Stormin' Norman

Jonathan Kim (Monroe, NY) has stumbled during the first few levels, but is still well above the chip average with 600k (-300k) which opens the door for Michalek Norman (Westfield, NJ) to take over the top spot.

Norman began the day second in chips with 802k and has nearly doubled his stack to 1.5 million (250 BB).

Third in chips to start the day and Day 1A chip leader Carlton Brumm (Gloucester, VA) is also moving up as he's taken his stack from 596k to 900k.

Level 18 (3k/6k/500 ante) continues.

 Carlton Catching Up

$400 + $50 Seven Card Stud

Level 1 limits are 50/100.

Six tables are in action in the back of the poker room.

Event 1: Notable Eliminations

$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

As Level 18 (3k/6k/500 ante), the second level of the day is underway, two notable players are on the rail.

Josh Brikis (Pittsburgh, PA) and Amanda Musumeci (Philadelphia, PA) tweet the end of their tournament:

Josh Brikis ‏@JBrikis

20 Minutes remain in this level.

They're in the back of the Poker Room, appropriately located near the back entrance to the Race Book.

A handful never made it to the gate:

Daniel Hofer
Jeff Rush
Marco Caruso
Hal Rotholz
Edwin Rincon

Hopefully they'll turn up soon!

Event 1: Chip Leader

$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Jonathan Kim
Chip Leader

Jonathan Kim (Monroe, NY) is a marked man after quietly amassing the chip lead late last night in the Poker Room.  He says he chipped up on the last two levels and added 300k to finish with 926k.

"I've got my eye on his stack," says Siani Gerard (Brooklyn, NY) who has the unenviable task of being on Kim's immediate right with 57k.

Not only does Kim have the chip lead, but he has the other eight players covered as the rest of the table's total is 811k.  In addition to being the big stack, Kim is more than free rolling as he took home the $10,000 Day 1B chip leader bonus, but he won't be resting on his laurels.

"I'm still going for the 300-grand," says Kim who knows there's a long way to go win the tournament and the $309,196 first prize.

Event 3: Poker Room Update

$350 + $50 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

Tables 34 through 40 are down here in the Poker Room and I've already spotted several familiar faces:

George Medrano
Howard Wolper
Justin Finberg
Mark Baatz
Tony Behbahani
Mike Dentale
Mario Rodriguez

Event 4: Stud Action Delayed

$400 + $50 Seven Card Stud

The wily veterans who love old school poker will have to wait for 7-card stud to get underway in the Poker Room at approximately 2 pm.

The two-day tournament features 12k in chips and 30 minute levels (Levels 11+ / 40 min. each).

Event 2: No HORSING Around

$350 + $50 HORSE

The 106 remaining players in the HORSE field are corralled in the Poker Room for the 1 pm restart.

Antonio Bueti (Mt. Kisco, NY) is the chip leader with 63,400 as the field races for the first place prize of $16,603 and 18 making the money

The average stack is 23k as we wait for the cards to fly.

Event 1: Calm Before the Storm

$500 + $60 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

565 players are still in the hunt for the $309,196 first prize, but first things first as the top 200 make the money with a $1,866 min cash.

Players are finding their seats and unbagging their chips as all 90 tables in the Event Center are now full.

The average stack is 164 (33 BB) as play resumes with Level 17 (2,500/5k/500 ante) at 1 pm.

Event 3: More Duos

$350 + $50 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

Wendy Rubin & Chris Edwards

Kim Findura & Paul Leon

Event 3: Trading Places

$350 + $50 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

It's a good thing Mike Marder and Mike "Little Man" Sica like each other, because they've been spending a lot of time side-by-side.  On Wednesday Marder was on Sica's left, today they switch spots.

 Today: Marder & Sica

Wednesday: Sica & Marder

Event 3: More Friendly Faces

$350 + $50 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

As more players settle into their seats we spot the following people in the Event Center:

Jose Montes
Leonardo Palermo
Adam Lippert
Jamie Kerstetter
Anthony Zinno
Henry Doiban
Craig Feldherr
Chris Edwards
Wendy Rubin
Cotton Snuffer
Mickey Woll
Phong "VIP" Nguyen

We can also report that Frank Richardone (Staten Island) is definitely playing in the Poker Room as his Table 35 is downstairs and he was heading that way.

Event 3: Less Than Friendly

$350 + $50 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

A couple of people are grumbling early in the tournament.  We stumble across a hand with the board showing J Q 9♣ 7 4 and a player bets 500.  Anthony Zinno (Boston, MA) makes it 2,500 and the opponent reluctantly calls.

Zinno shows 5 6 for the flush while his opponent mucks, but mutters that he had the nut straight and that Zinno is "so lucky."

Across the room Julie Anna Cornelius tweeted that people are getting restless at the table behind her:

Julie Anna Cornelius ‏@LuckyJadeJules
Less than 30 mins into the bounty tourney today and someone has already called the clock at the table behind me. Gonna be a long day!

Poker, the game we love to hate.

Event 3: Early Arrivals

$350 + $50 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

Lots of familiar faces in the Event Center as Tables 1-33 are upstairs and several other tables are in the Poker Room.

Faces in the Event Center Crowd:

Paul Leon
"Little Man" Mike Sica
Mike Marder
Julie Anna Cornelius
Martha Patella
Kim Findura
Roman Valerstein

Event 3: Catching Our Breath

$350 + $50 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

After a Borgata record setting opening event with 3,705 entries and buy-ins totaling $1.8 million (smashing the $1 million guarantee), which resumes at 1 pm, the next wave of no-limit players are back in the Event Center.

The mood is more relaxed as we wipe the slate clean and start a new event, the first bounty tournament of the Borgata Poker Open.

Players start with 12k in chips and levels are 40 minutes long. There are unlimited re-entries for the first six levels and this is a two-day event.

Shuffle up and deal!
