Players have just returned from color up break.  Blinds are now at 5k/10k/ 1k ante.  88 players remain in the tournament, so we're just 7 players away from the money!  After walking around the room, it appears Mike Damico (Philadelphia, PA) is our current chip leader with around 590k in chips.  He had a few big hands that helped him build up his stack, including winning a race with his 10 10 vs. AK...and waking up with JJ when someone shoved with pocket 5s.  Andy Santiago (Bensalem, PA) is another notable stack with about 450k in chips.

Walt English will collect $131,492 for third place.

Heads-up play began with Ben holding a 4:1 chip lead over Dan Wach.

Event 1: Hero Call

Event 1 - $500 + $60 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em

Dan Wach and Ben Bianco tangled in a pot.

The flop of Q J 3 was bet and called.

8 on the turn was checked.

Q on the river and Dan said "5.5 million".  Ben tanked for a minute, then mad a hero call.

"Good call" said Dan, as he tabled T7 suited (whiffed flush draw & gutshot).

Ben said "I knew I had him!" as he tabled his pocket 4s to collect the big pot.

Dan was left with about 17 million after losing that pot.  Ben chipped up to about 60 million.

Event 3 Recap

$350 + $50 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

When the last of the bounty hunters picked off their final prey, Chris Grove (Brooklyn Park, MD) was the last man standing as he took home the $49,958 top prize and the Borgata Poker Open trophy.  He finished just ahead of George Leandrou (Glen Cove, NY) and Henry Bumble (New York, NY).

"It feels great," said Grove, who is an aspiring poker pro, "I've been waiting to get a win like this for awhile."

Grove navigated his way through the final table and used ace-king on back-to-back knockouts to propel him to the top spot.  "I don't know, but I love it," says the 26-year-old, when asked why a lot of players loathe big slick, "it dominates most hands."

Grove took care of Justin Schwartz and Joe Opie in 5th and 4th places respectively with AK which set up a quick finish with Leandrou coming in second place and Bumble in third.

Leandrou, had an impressive 13 bounties ($100 each), to go along with his $28,092 second place prize.  This, a nice consolation prize, after he busted in the record setting Event 1.

"The turnout's been great," says Leandrou, who works in real estate and is impressed with the first few days of the Borgata Poker Open series and plans to come back for the WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship event.

This two-day tournament featured 613 entries putting up a total buy-in of $214,550. The field featured WSOP Bracelet winner Mike "Little Man" Sica (North Brunswick, NJ) who survived the money bubble for a min cash.

Other notables making the money included former Borgata trophy winners Lana O'Brien (14th / $1,977), Vinny Pahjua (12th / $2,705) and Jose Montes (7th / $7,596).

Day 2 began with Jim Opie holding the chip lead, but he suffered a brutal beat at the hands of Grove early at the final table.

It was a three-way all in with Opie holding pocket kings against Grove's pocket jacks and John DeGeorge's A 10 offsuit. The board ran out to give Opie a jack high straight and eliminated DeGeorge in 9th place and crippled Opie before his 4th place finish.

The suck out helped Grove to his largest career cash and first major win, this after finishing in second and third places at two other Borgata Poker Open events in the last 18 months.  Grove is now planning to continue his success throughout the series and plans on play in the Championship event.

Final Table Results
1 Chris Grove (Brooklyn Park, MD) $49,958

$350 + $50 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

 Chris Grove (Brooklyn Park, MD)

Even though the three remaining players got their fill on dinner break, they were hungry to get the tournament finished and they did.  In the end its Chris Grove (Brooklyn Park, MD) with all the chips to win Event 3 of the Borgata Poker Open, finishing just ahead of  George Leandrou (Glen Cove, NY) and Henry Bumble (New York, NY).

"It feels great," says Grove, "I've been waiting to get a win like this for awhile."  The 26 year old says he only got 4 bounties on his way to the win adding, "how does that even happen?"

Grove is a 26-year-old who plays poker full time, but doesn't consider himself a professional, but is serious about the game and an "aspiring pro."

This is Grove's largest career cash and first major win. He says there were a couple of times that he sucked out to stay alive in the tournament, but overall ran well and played better.

Event 3: 3rd Place - Bumble

$350 + $50 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

 Henry Bumble (New York, NY)
$17,690

You could say he bumbled and stumbled his way into a third place finish, but in reality Henry Bumble (New York, NY) played good poker for two days to earn the largest payday of his career.

Bumble was just edged out by winner Chris Grove (Brooklyn Park, MD) and runner-up George Leandrou (Glen Cove, NY) just after the dinner break.

"I thought I was real lucky, says the small business owner, "I sucked out a few times when I was a major underdog, but you need luck to go deep in tournaments."

Event 5: Panning for Gold

$350 + $50 Big Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Hende Hamming it Up

The early stages of a tournament means we have to dig a little to find  interesting nuggets to write about.  Paul Hende (Redwood Valley, CA) is doing his part when he says, "stick around you might see something here."

On a board of Q J 5 8 4, Hende moves all in and his two opponents fold.  When the players want him to show an ace high bluff, Hende does the opposite and shows 6 7, the second nut straight.

Hende says he's had a good run recently in California and used the winnings to fly to Borgata to play in the series.  He was lucky enough to be holding one of the few alternate tickets issued on Day 1B for Event 1, but unfortunately his luck ran out and he didn't cash.

Event 5: 5 Minutes to Kickoff
