The remaining six players are bagging and tagging for the night as play resumes Friday at 3:30 pm.

Burnitz checks, and after eyeballing the stacks, Diaz checks behind.

Diaz tables: Q J for the turned flush to take his stack to close to 6 million as Diaz mucks.

Level 31 is winding down.

WPT BPO: 8th Place - Williams

$3,300 + 200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

Jeffrey Williams (Decatur, GA)
8th Place - $97,770

It was the hand versus Patterson that would be the end for Williams, but all that was left was the paperwork basically.  He was all-in for less than the big blind, and ended up losing to Matthew Burnitz who made two pair on the river against Williams's queen high.  Williams take home $97,770 for his 8th place finish.

WPT BPO: Chop It Up...Not So Fast

$3,300 + 200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

As Matt Affleck was doing an interview with Fifth Street Radio, John Allan Hinds yells to Matt that his good friend Tyler Patterson (Everett, WA) was all-in (against Jeffrey Williams).  As we walked to the table is was:

Patterson: Ac Qs           William: Ah Qd

Flop: 2h 5c 9c

Turn: Qc

River: 8c

A brutal beat as Patterson four flushes to double up, and cripples Williams (leaving him with 100,000). Patterson now has ~ 6,000,000.

WPT BPO: Williams Splashing Around

WPT BPO: Back From Break

$3,300 + 200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

Players are back from break, and it's back to where we were before.  Players are super quiet, and there is a lot of raising and picking up blind and antes.

Event 26: Bounty Bubble Breaks / Holm Cashes

$200 + $30 + $50 Double Green Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

The final 27 players are in the money including Mike Holm (Woodridge, IL) who is in the hunt to win the Borgata Poker Open Leaderboard promotion.

Holm's 26th place finish will earn him a few more points as he looks to close the gap on Brian O'Donoghue (Bayside, NY).  Holm began the day 84 points behind O'Donoghue who has posted the score to beat and not playing any more events.

Holm, in addition to playing the 11 am bounty tournament, racked up participation points in the 6 pm tournament.  But just after busting with JJ vs QQ in the 11 am, he was eliminated in the 6pm.

He knows Friday's schedule gives him only two more chances to earn points to give him a shot at winning the contest and the $2,700 Borgata Fall Poker Open Championship seat.

WPT BPO: Break Time

$3,300 + 200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

Players are going on a 10 minute break, and when they return the blinds will be 50,000/100,000/10,000.

Flop: 10 7♣ 3 (Brady still leads)

Turn:10♣ (no change)

River: 6♣

Brady fades the three outer on the river and doubles to 2.3 million, while Diaz drops to 9.2 million. As Brady scoops the pot, Tyler Patterson says, "most of me was rooting for you."

Brady says it's all good knowing that the TV final table looms.

WPT BPO: 9th Place - Eskandar

$3,300 + 200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

Patrick Eskandar (Gulfport, MS)
9th Place - $69,003

Coming back from dinner the tables was really quiet, and players were just keeping to themselves.  Players began talking football, and suddenly to level of chattiness went up and up.  They were needling each other about pre flop play and post flop play, and that conversation played over into this hand.  Patrick was messing around saying he wasn't sure what to do, so he just limped the 80,000.  It folded around Ofir Mor on the button, and he asked Patrick what he had behind (1,600,000).  Mor then raised to 400,000, and it folded back to Eskandar.  Patrick then went all-in and Mor called:

Eskandar: 7c 7h             Mor: Qd Qs

Flop: As Jc 6c

Turn: 8s

River: 2c

Patrick was our chip leader coming into today, but leaves us in 9th place taking home $69,003.

They're down to 34 players, just seven away from the money.  Average stack is 126k.

Don Brown

Don Brown (Westbury, NY) looks to be the chip leader with about 360k.

He's also got six bounties in his pocket (and only entered once) so he's free-rolling.

WPT BPO - 10th Place - Schwalich

$3,300 + 200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

Scott Schwalich (Miamisburg, OH)
10th Place - $44,937

Scott was one of the shorter stacks left in this event, and he was in the small blind when it was folded around to him.  He only had slightly more than 10 big blinds, and shoved his last 830,000 trying to pick up the big blind and antes.  David Diaz (chip leader) made the call:

Schwalich: Kd 7d            Diaz: Ah Qh

Flop: Jh As 2s

Turn: 3d

River: Qc

Schwalich busts in 10th place and will take home $44,937.  Diaz now pads his chip lead as we are only three bust outs away from the WPT Final Table.

During the previous level, a big hand developed involving Abe Korotki and Pete Mavro.

After a raise and a couple of callers, a short stack was all in with 33, Abe was all in for 130k with AJ, and Pete had them both covered holding AK.

Pete Mavro

The small pair was good to take the main pot.  Pete took the large side pot with AK and collected Abe's bounty.

Pete is up to 300k, good for the chip lead.  He's not quite free-rolling with 7 bounties in his pocket because he busted out early and had to re-enter.

38 players remain.  27 get paid.

They'll finish this level, then take a one hour dinner break, from about 7:30pm to 8:30pm.

$3,300 + 200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

Jamie Kestetter (Monroe Township, NJ)

Jamie Kerstetter was under the gun and raised to 135,000.  Heck called behind, and Matthew Burnitz three bet to 415,000.  It folded back around to Jamie and she pushed all in for just under 900,000.  Heck then folded and Burnitz made the call:

$3,300 + 200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

Kyle Bowker (Walton, NY)
13th Place - $30,083

We walked over to Table 1 to see a hand between the tournament chip leader Steve Brecher and Kyle Bowker (Walton, NY).  The hand was already on the river with a board of 8c Qc 2s 7s Ks, and Brecher had fired out a 300,000 bet.  Kyle took his time with the decision and announced he was all-in, which was roughly 900,000 total.  Steve made the call and flipped over Kh Qs (top two), while Kyle tabled Js 10h, and was clearly hoping to get Steve off a range of hands.

Kyle finishes in 13th place and will receive $30,083.  Brecher is now up to 9,695,000, and sits well clear of his nearest competitor.

WPT BPO: Schwalich Shoves River

$3,300 + 200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

On a board of 9c Ah 3d Js 8d (with a 800,000 pot), Ben Hamnett bet out 225,000.  His opponent was Scott Schwalich (Miamisburg, OH), and Scott decided to shove the river after that bet.  His all in amount was 844,000, and after some thought Hamnett decided to fold.  Schwalich is up over 1,600,000, while Hamnett on puts a small dent in his healthy stack.

WPT BPO: 14th Place - Childs

$3,300 + 200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

Lee Childs (Alexandria, VA)
$30,083

Lee Childs moved his short-stack in and got called by Jeff Williams.

Lee's QT off needed help to beat Jeff's AJ offsuit.

The board ran out 6 5 2 A 6 and was no help to Lee.  Jeff pulled another pot.

Lee Childs busted out in 14th place, earning $30,083.

WPT BPO: 15th Place - Brown

$3,300 + 200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

Jeremy Brown (Medford, NJ)
15th Place - $30,083

Jeremy Brown was doing his best to get back to the heads up point in a WPT Borgata Open Championship that he once was at (defeated by Olivier Busquet).  Unfortunately his queens ran into the aces of Steve Brecher, and Brown was sent home in 15th place.  He collects $30,083 for his finish, and made an incredibly strong run to put himself in the spot to make the final table.

WPT BPO: 16th Place - Pahuja

Vinny had KQ suited for top pair.

Matt had pocket Aces.

Then another Ace hit the turn, giving Matt a set and the pot.  Vinny was drawing dead.

Vinny Pahuja finished in 16th place, earning $20,118.

Bowker: As Qs          Saunders: Kd Jd

Flop: 10h Qd 7c

Turn: 4s

River: 7s

Saunders is sent home in 17th place and will go back to Massachusetts with $20,118.

Action folded to Steve Brecher on the button, who opened.  Jeff Williams raised from the small blind.

Steve called and the flop came J 4 2 with two diamonds.

Jeff led for 115k.  Steve gave it some thought, then raised to 815k.  Jeff took a few moments, then announced he was all-in.

Steve Brecher stacks Jeff Williams' chips

Steve tanked for a minute, then called, showing AJ for top/top (no diamond).

Jeff rolled over pocket Kings (no diamond) for the lead.

18th Place - $20,118

Ben Hamnett opened the pot for 80,000 and watched as the action folded around to Vinny Napolitano. Vinny was short and three bet all-in for his last 380,000, and it folded back to Ben.  Hamnett immediately called:

Hamnett: Ah Ad            Napolitano: Kd Jd

Flop: As 10d Qs

Turn: 8d

River: 5c

Even though Hamnett flopped top set, Vinny got a super sweat out of his final hand, by flopping a gut shot draw and turning a diamond draw.  The river bricked for Vinny and he would be collecting $20,118 for his 18th place finish.  Ben Hamnett is now up to 3,800,000.

Event 26: More Bounty Hunters

$200 + $30 + $50 Double Green Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

Registration has closed, so no more re-entries.

Unofficial count of entries is 286.

Seventeen tables remain with about 164 players still in the hunt.

I uncovered some more familiar faces in the field:

Barry Shulman
Mike Lydon
Andrew Interdonato
Joe Boatwright
Reggie Franklin
Tony Antonious
Leanne Rosenblatt
Gheorghe Gradinaru

Brandon Schaefer (Hoboken, NJ) doesn't have a big stack, but he's already got three bounties ($150) in his pocket!

Level 8:  Blinds 400/800 with 75 ante.

WPT BPO: Williams Scoops A Nice One

$3,300 + 200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

As we walked over to Table 1, the action was already on the turn.  On a board of Jc 2c 2s 3s, Jeffrey Williams had checked to Jeremy Brown.  Brown bet out 330,000 and after some thought Williams called him.  The river came the Kd and once again Williams checked to Brown, waiting for his action.  Brown cut out 550,000 and Williams was really in the tank.  Williams decided to call, and Brown tapped the table saying, "Nice call."  Jeffrey Williams showed Qh Jd for the win, and would chip up to 4,900,000.  Jeremy Brown is now down to 2,300,000.

WPT BPO: Blinds Up

$3,300 + 200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

WPT BPO: Childs Doubles

$3,300 + 200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

Lee Childs

Lee Childs got all-in for 527k with AQ against Ofir Mor's AJ suited.

The board fell Q 9 8 J Q and Lee doubled up to over 1 million.

Ofir was left with about 700k.

WPT BPO: 19th Place - Glick

$3,300 + 200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

Michael Glick (Bala Cynwd, PA)
19th Place - $16,922

Matthew Burnitz (Bear, DE) opened the pot for a raise, and Glick put his last 370,000 as his three bet all-in.  Burnitz called, and it was to the flop:

Burnitz: Ah 10c              Glick: Ad Qs

Flop: Jh Qh 8h

Turn: 8d

River: Ks

Although Burnitz was behind going into the hand, he picked up a many more outs on the flop (straight and flush draws).  The king on the river would give Burnitz broadway, and send Glick to the cage to collect his 19th place money ($16,922).

WPT BPO: Top Stacks

$3,300 + 200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

Here are the top four stacks of the remaining 20 players:

Patrick Eskandar - 3,500,000
David Diaz - 3,500,000
Jeffrey Williams - 3,280,000
Steve Brecher - 3,200,000
Jeremy Brown - 2,800,000

WPT BPO: 20th Place - Madhani

$3,300 + 200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

Farhan Madhani (Miramar, FL)
$16,922

On a flop of 9 9 3, David Heck got all-in against Farhan Madhani.  David had K9.  Farhan had KQ off for two overcards.  The last two came 3 2 and David doubled up.

Farhan was left short-stacked and was all in from the small blind against Steve Brecher in the big blind.

Farhan's 83 suited was up against Steve's AJ offsuit.  The board came K K 7 9 T and Steve took the pot.

Farhan busted in 20th place, earning $16,922.

WPT BPO: 21st Place - Paradis

$3,300 + 200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

Maurice Paradis (Jewett City, CT)
21st Place - $16,922

Maurice was another one of our shorter stacks coming into the day, and was all-in against Tyler Patterson (Everett, WA):

Maurice: As Kc            Patterson: 10s 10d

Flop: 4h 4c 4s

Turn: 6c

River: 5d

Paradis will be going back to Connecticut with $16,922 after this 21st place finish.  Tyler started the day with about 1,500,000 in chips, and continues to climb up the leader board.  After the next two bust outs we will combine to two tables of nine.

WPT BPO: Diaz Gives Madhani Trouble

$3300 + $200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

On the turn with a board of T 6 3 5 rainbow, David Diaz (sb) bet.

Farhan Madhani (cutoff) raised.

David came over the top for another 425k.

After a couple of minutes, Farhan folded.

A few hands later:

David opened for 60k.  Farhan raised to 155k.  David shoved.  Farhan folded again.

WPT BPO: Williams Drags Monster Pot

$3300 + $200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

On the river with a board of 9 8 5 8 4 (back-door hearts) Jeff Saunders (bb) checked.

Jeff Williams bet 584k.

Saunders tanked for a few minutes, then called.

Williams showed 98 off for the full house.  Saunders mucked.

Williams is now up to ~3.3 million.

WPT BPO: 22nd Place - Terry

$3,300 + 200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

Todd Terry (Hoboken, NJ)
22nd Place - $16, 922

Todd Terry (Hoboken, NJ) open shoved after the action folded around to him, and was called on his immediate left by Steve Brecher (Reno, NV).  The cards were tabled and we were to the flop:

Terry: Ad Ks                 Brecher: Js Jh

Flop: Qh 4c 9s

Turn: 5c

River: 5h

Terry will go home in 22nd place, taking home $16,922 for his finish.  Brecher started the day top three in chips, and adds to his already massive stack.  Brecher is now over 3 million in chips, and is no stranger to these final stages of big events.

WPT BPO: 23rd Place - Hutter

$3300 + $200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

Level 26:  Blinds 15k/30k with 3k ante.

Barry Hutter (Bradenton, FL)
$16,922

Scott Schwalich opened for 53k utg+1.
Barry Hutter flatted from the button.
Ben Hamnett raised to 179k from the big blind.
Scott called.
Ben shoved.
Barry re-shoved.
Scott folded.

Barry:  88
Ben: KK

Board: J 6 5♠ T 8

So despite making a set on the river, Barry lost to Ben's flush.  Barry finished in 23rd place, earning $16,922.

WPT BPO: 24th Place - Ellis

$3,300 + 200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

Helen Ellis (New York, NY)
24th Place - $16,922

Helen had lost a sizable chunk of her chips the hand prior to her last, when her A 4 was trumped by A J on an ace high board.  She then followed by shoving her last 450,000 the next hand with Ah Jh, but ran into the K K of Steve Brecher.  Helen has had a great run at this series, final tabling two tournaments, and making Day 4 of this championship event.  We will surely see her in the near future continuing her solid play.

WPT BPO: 25th Place - Consolo

$3300 + $200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

Philip Consolo (Miami Shores, FL)
$16,922

Philip Consolo was all-in holding QJ offsuit against Ben Hamnett's JT suited.

The board ran out 7 7 6 J T and gave Ben two pair for the win.

Philip finished 25th for $16,922.

WPT BPO: 26th Place - Hickman

$3300 + $200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

Michael Hickman (Media, PA)
$16,922

On a flop of T 9 2 rainbow, Michael Hickman was all-in holding 87 off for the open-ended straight-draw.

Barry Hutter was ahead with QT off for top pair.

The last two fell 2 8 and were no help to Michael.  He busted out in 26th place ($16,922).

WPT BPO: 27th Place - Gaspard

$3300 + $200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

Jean 'Prince' Gaspard (Evanston, IL)
$16,922

Jean Gaspard was all-in with pocket Tens.

David Diaz had pocket Queens.

The board ran out K 8 3 4 A and changed nothing.

David took the pot.

Jean took 27th place and $16,922.

WPT BPO: Day Four Underway

Event 26: Bounty Hunting Begins

$200 + $30 + $50 Double Green Chip Bounty No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

The bounty hunters are back again today, this time in search of the elusive 'Double Green Chip' bounties.

Since there are no $50 chips in casinos, they use two green $25 chips as the bounty, hence the 'Double Green Chip' moniker.

Any player who takes the last of another player's tournament chips also gets their $50 bounty.  That's money in their pocket, even if they don't make the money in the tournament.

This is also a re-entry event, which means players may register through the end of level six.  If they bust out during this time, they may re-enter as many times as they like.

Players began with 15,000 chips and levels are 30 minutes long.

Level 1: Blinds 25/50.

Cards are in the air!

      Event 25 Recap

      $200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

It was a long wait, but Borgata regular Tom Colamaria (Brooklyn, NY) finally got his big score.  He beat Joseph McKeehen (North Wales, PA) heads up and earned $46,650, the largest payday of his career.

"It was a long day, a long life," said Colamaria while holding the Borgata Poker Open trophy after winning. "It's been ten years and to finally get a big score makes it worth it," added the soon to be 31-year-old.

Colamaria's journey was epitomized at the final table when four-handed play lasted more than three hours.  "Definitely haven't seen it ever last that long," said McKeehen, who earned $27,843 as runner-up. "Especially since the blinds were so big. We just couldn't get hands to flip with and when we did, he (Colamaria) got it and won the tournament."

The hand McKeehan referenced came when Colamaria's pocket 4s held against 4th place finisher Eddie Bou. That came before he knocked out Brian Coen in third place and then won it with 6 6♣ against McKeehen.

The day began with 1,104 entries which created a total buy-in of $220,800.  The top 110 made the money including WSOP bracelet holder Allyn Shulman (50th).  Other women who cashed included Borgata regulars Nancy Martin (46th), Nancy Martin (45th) and Patty Barasanti-Chou (41st).

But in the end it's Colamaria who won the tournament while wearing his trademark Burger King crown and he received the royal treatment from those who have watched him grind for so many years.

      Place - Amount

      1. Tom Colamaria (Brooklyn, NY) $46,650
      2. Joseph McKeehen (North Wales, PA) $27,843

      5. Nick Blackburn (Long Bottom, OH) $11,780
      6. Abraham Mevorah (Staten Island, NY) $9,531
      7. Jeffrey Spence (King of Prussia, PA) $7,496
      8. Mike Maglietta (Old Bridge, NJ) $5,569

      Event 25 Winner - Colamaria

      $200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

      Tom Colamaria (Brooklyn, NY)
      $46,650

It only takes two hands for Tom Colamaria to beat Joseph McKeehen (North Wales, PA) heads up. Colamaria's pocket 6s not only dominate pocket 3s, but he flops a set to help him take the title.

"The Devil worked for me," says Colamaria when he had 666 after the flop.
Colamaria is a long time Borgata regular who takes home the biggest score of his tournament career. "This makes it all worth it," he says, while celebrating with friends.

      Event 25: 2nd Place - McKeehen

      $200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

       Joseph McKeehen (North Wales, PA)
       $27,843

Joseph McKeehen finishes as runner-up after watching Tom Colamaria flop a set of 6s against his pocket 3s on the final hand.

This is McKeehen's second five-figure score of the series after coming in 3rd place in Event 6 ($1k) for a $15,389 payday.

McKeehen says he cleared it with his professors that he could skip classes at Arcadia University in suburban Philadelphia to play in this event.

      Event 25: 3rd Place - Coen

       $200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

      Brian Coen (Vancouver, Canada)
      $17,027

While four-handed play took more than three hours, it takes ~3 hands for the next elimination.  Brian Coen is all in with K 8, but is dominated by the pocket aces of Tom Colamaria and doesn't catch up.

Coen is a semi-retired lawyer who says, "I heard good things about Borgata and liked the $3 million guarantee." He made the trip here to play in the WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship and busted "very late" on Day 2.

Coen says his "supportive and tolerant wife" Sophia is what alloys him to play poker and that he misses her and their two children.

      Event 25: 4th Place - Bou

      $200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

       Eddie Bou (Green Acre, FL)
      $14,243
      300k/600k/50k ante

10 minutes into the level Eddie Bou and Tom Colamaria are flipping for their tournament lives.  Bou's AK doesn't connect and loses to Colamaria's pocket 4s.

Both players have ~4.6 million in chips, and after the count Bou is covered and out in 4th place.

"I wasn't even supposed to play this tournament," says Bou. "My wife saw the radar and we decided to stay another day.

Bou and his wife Rosalia were scheduled to leave Tuesday night to drive back to Florida, but East Coast storms kept Bou at Borgata and allowed him to play in this event.

This was Bou's third cash of the series and says his bags are still packed in the room.

      4th $14,243

      Event 25: 5th Place - Blackburn

      $200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

      Nick Blackburn (Long Bottom, OH)
      $11,780

Nick Blackburn is out when his A6 doesn't connect against the QQ of Tom Colamaria.

"I'm a complete blank," says Blackburn, when asked to volunteer any pertinent or interesting information about his tournament or life.

      Event 25: 6th Place - Mevorah

      $200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

      Abraham Mevorah (Staten Island, NY)
      $9,531

Abraham Mevorah and his pocket 10s hit the rail when Brian Coen flops a queen while holding AQ.  This is Mevorah's second cash of the Borgata Poker Open.  He's a comedy club owner in New York.

      Event 25: 7th Place - Spence

      $200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

Jeffrey Spence (King of Prussia, PA)
      $7,496

Jeff Spence hits the rail when his pocket 6s lose the race to Joseph McKeehen's Q 10.  Spence is a semi-professional poker player saying, "I'm a big fan of the WPT and Borgata."

      Event 25: 8th Place - Maglietta

      $200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

       Mike Maglietta (Old Bridge, NJ)
      $5,569

Mike Maglietta is on the rail when his QJ is dominated by AQ.  Maglietta says he plays poker part time and that this was his first event of the Borgata Poker Open.

"Not too bad," he says, "one event, one final table."

      Event 25: 9th Place - Daval

      $200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

      Emmanuel Daval (Brooklyn, NY)
      $3,930

Emmanuel's luck runs out when his AJ doesn't improve against the QQ of Joseph McKeehen.

"It was pretty sweet to make the final table," says Emmanuel after dropping to less than 10 big blinds with two tables to go.  He's an artist and painter in New York and has been playing tournament poker recreationally for the last five years.

      Event 25: 10th Place - deNeergaard

      $200 + $30 Deep Stack No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)

      Dave deNeergaard (Northport, NY)
      $2,559

The first all in at the final table is three-way action and deNeergaard is the casualty.  His QQ is behind the KK of Abraham Mevorah, but ahead of the A8 of Eddie Bou, who is the shortest stack.

Bou hits trip aces for a true triple-up, while the remainder of deNeergaard's chips go to Mevorah.

deNeergaard says he took vacation time from work to play in the tournament which is paying dividends.
